About KIC

Greetings and Welcome

Welcome to Kolding International Congregation

If you are a  foreigner, an immigrant or a refugee in town who would like to be in an international community, wanting to feel at home, wanting to be integrated into the Danish society in the fellowship of caring believers in Jesus, wanting to be nurtured in the Christian faith, then KIC is for you.

If you are a Dane who has interest to know foreigners and strangers in the Danish society, able to see their value with their cultural baggage which also  can possibly enrich the  Danish culture, willing to support their integration as co-humans, wanting your own religious convictions to be challenged,  then KIC is for you.

If you are a citizen or transient visitor in this country wanting to find forums for cultural and religious dialogues, wanting to be introduced into the Danish language and Danish history and also to the history, struggles and hopes of other countries,  then KIC is for you.

Who is Kolding IC

Kolding International Congregation is a group of people of many different nationalities. We meet regularly for Church services, Bible studies, lecture evenings, Sunday brunches, informal meetings and general social activities.

After Kamalesh Biswas (our previous pastor, who started this activity) passed away in November 2009, pastor Michael Markussen of Simon Peters Kirke (Church) is conducting the services and offering general pastoral services.

Our church services take place in Simon Peters Kirke in Kolding on the first Sunday in the month at 1 p.m.  and are conducted in English. Coffee and tea are served afterwards. Elizabeth Padillo Olesen is our fulltime cross-cultural worker, who is in charged with the daily office and supports all the activites.

Other activities include occasional presentations and lectures, brunch on Sundays, Bible studies, religious dialogues, excursions and other special events like Inter-cultural voices (Toner på tværs) and  the International  Christmas party. In cooperation with other cross cultural organizations, we invite individuals and families to join in a yearly summercamp and other cross-cultural conferences.

Please check out our schedule and feel free to join us, we are already all shapes, sizes and colors, so we are sure you will fit in as well. Welcome!

Kolding IC activities

Kolding IC has a number of activities to serve the community with special focus on those who do not have Denmark as their original home country and in doing that spread the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Here is a quick overview of the activities:

Church services

Church services are held in Simon Peters Kirke, Islandsvej 12, 6000 Kolding. (see map here...) you will see it from Haderslevvej.

The service follows a fairly traditional Lutheran praxis, with hymns, sermon and the Holy Communion. It normally takes one to one-and-a-half hour. The services provide a time for approaching our Lord Jesus Christ in reverence and worship.

Afterwards we have tea and coffee in the community facilities, where we have an opportunity to great each others, talk and generally have a good time.

Services are held every first Sunday in the month and on special occasions such on Christmas Eve.

Read more about Simon Peters Church and the other activities here...

Sunday Brunch

From time to time a Sunday brunch is arranged, typically 2 weeks after one of ther services. We get together for a few hours, share food, talk together, sing some songs, and have a short devotion.

Christmas party

At Christmas time there is always an evening with lots of people attending.

Social gatherings and lecture evenings

Sometimes we meet in private homes or in one of the meeting rooms of the churches in Kolding:

Bible Study

Currently a group of young people are doing Bible studies every second Wednesday evening, please contact us, if you would like to be part of this activity, please see more under resources.
